Pablo Antonio Alvarez

Pablo Antonio Alvarez is an artist. Born in Cuba, based in South Florida, he works mainly with sculpture. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts, from New World School of the Arts and a Master’s degree in Sculpture from California College of the Arts. Some of the principal themes in his work are the human figure, Neo-biblical depiction, socialism, communism, and dysrationalia. He tries to express these elements in a balance between representation and ambiguity. As of late, Pablo Antonio Alvarez's work consists mostly of Ceramics and Wooden structures, textile figures and drawings.

Art is an enterprise. Like science and religion, information is passed on from person to person, culture to culture, collectively and individually, through time. There is no escaping it and thus, no point in resisting.

The subject matter of my latest work explores political turmoil and biblical stories. Understood and/or processed through a contemporary lens.
